Alexander Galitsky

Before co-founding Almaz Capital, Alexander founded the information and communications technology practice at Russian Technologies, one of the first venture funds in Russia. Prior to his investment career, Alexander founded and was CEO of five successful companies - Elvees, ELVIS+, Elvis Telecom, EzWIM, and TrustWorks - in the software, communications, semiconductors, internet and security sectors. In 1993, he negotiated the first overseas and direct investment ever made by Sun Microsystems and pioneered several WiFi and VPN innovations. In the 1980s, Alexander was one of the top executives in the Soviet space industry.

Alexander is a director of Acumatic, Parallels, and the Skolkovo Foundation. He is also an advisor to seed venture fund Runa Capital, which includes the business incubator Runa Park. Previously, he has been an investor in, and a member of the advisory board or board of directors of, Acronis, Magnifire (NASDQ: FFIV), NavMaps (now TeleAtlas) PGP Inc., S Terra, and Start-Telecom. In 2000, Alexander was named a "Technology Pioneer" at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

Alexander holds a PhD in computer science jointly from the Defense Research Institute and the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology.
